Hard Choices PDF Print E-mail

If it is up to conservatives to take back the political system in this country from the liberals, then why do we see people like Sarah Palin running to Arizona to support John McCain?

Now wait a minute! I haven’t forgotten that he picked her as his running mate and thrust her onto the national stage from which she now is able to have a voice for conservative issues in ways she was unable to before. I guess you could say she owes him one. Isn’t it time that decisions were made and stands were taken based on what is true and right and not about favors we may owe? The “I scratch your back you scratch mine” days must come to an end for any person who wants to see real progress and effectual change take place in this country.

Now that being said I like Sarah Palin. I believe that she is committed to principles that are vital to our country’s prosperity and her convictions are similar to mine in many ways. So this is not a blog trying to badmouth Sarah Palin and some wayward decision she has made. Nor am I trying to say that she should be ashamed. I am making an observation and calling attention to the efforts that must be made and the hard choices that must be at the forefront of the conservative movement. If success is to be achieved and victories made we must look closely at whom we support and why. I am bringing to your attention my own thoughts and the fact that lately I have been troubled by the support that John McCain gets from people who call themselves hard line conservatives; which he is not.

Where are the PAC’s of our former presidential candidates who have talked about upsetting the political establishment from which they distance themselves at every possible opportunity: the PAC’s with the financial backing to support candidates who could take on John McCain. My friends I don’t hate John McCain. I just see a man who has been a part of Washington too long to be called an outsider. It is time for you and me to ask far more from the conservative leaders we like so much. Everyday choices need to be re-evaluated and difficult decisions must be made. Making harder choices and choosing the more difficult thing will grow our nation into a stronger and more conservative country. I want to be counted among the growing remnant of people who are acting upon their patriotism. How about you?
